Goin’ To Chicago (1997) features the Steve Sandner Trio joined by Detroit trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. Marcus is renowned for his work with Ray Charles and his playing on many of the early Motown hits. Charles McFarlan and Stewart Miller are on drums and bass. Songs feature the old Joe Williams blues favorite, “Goin’ To Chicago” and an instrumental original, “Catch 38.” Bluesy and swinging!

I’m Sticking With You, Baby (2001) is the second release for Steve’s Trio plus Marcus Belgrave. On this recording Marcus’ singing is also featured on the tunes “Just on Of Those Things” and “With A Song In My Heart.” Some have said that Marcus’ singing sounds a bit like Louis Armstrong’s. Steve sings the blues on the title cut and on Ellington’s “Rocks In My Bed.” Steve’s composition “Ginger’s Lament” features Marcus on flugelhorn.

Cherry Red (1989) was re-released on CD in 2002. The 1989 session features Steve, Dennis Carroll on bass, Lin Halliday on tenor sax, and Chicago legend Marshall Thompson on drums. Lin later recorded several CD’s of his own on Delmark Records, but his playing on this session has been hailed as some of his best. Steve sings “Hallelujah I Love Her So,” “God Bless The Child,” and other swinging blues tunes.
